ELABLRL4 The student employs a variety of writing genres to demonstrate a comprehensive grasp of significant ideas in selected literary works. The student composes essays, narratives, poems, or technical documents.

Basically, this is saying that I need to be able to make use of different writing genres in order to understand a variety of literature. I can do so by composing essays, narratives, poems, or technical documents. In this unit, I'll be writing poems.
